Presenter page

Hello Iím Kevin Lacey, I joined Hospital Radio North Kent in 1981, I have been interested in radio since the days of the pirates and I listened to Radio Caroline.

When I joined Radio North Kent I started off as a request collector which gave me a chance to meet and talk the patients and staff of Gravesend hospital, after a year or so I started my training as a relief presenter. I also started to go out on interviews for the programmes. I met many great people who have included Terry Wogan, Ted Rogers, Rolf Harris, Des OíConner and Simon Dee from Radio Caroline plus a couple of Home and Away stars, I found these celebrities very pleasant and down to earth.

In 1987 I joined the committee and in 1989 I became chairman of the station, I changed to Vice chairman and programme manager & did this until May 2012.

During my time I have organised the 21st Birthday celebration which was a great success and we had a number of past members attend.

I can also be found around the wards collecting requests & I'm a releif presenter.

From April 2017 you can hear me every Friday night with "Radio North Kent Golden hour"
